Need help with front rim

My Cannondale SuperSix came with Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheels. I was on a descent when my front tire blew out. I was successful in braking slowly on gravel to stop without crashing. My front rim ended up with some nasty gouges, practically all around the rim; but no gouges on the braking surface. Is there a way of removing the gouges or is the rim toast?

Thanks in advance

I would advise you to consult with your LBS to get their opinion, however from what you describe in your post I would think it may be better to replace the rim from a safety point of view.
  • Ok thanks for the info. I appreciate it
  • Probably just a good sanding down needed. So long as it holds the tyre and doesn't chew your pads, it'll be fine. Replacing the rim on a Ksyrium is pretty much a non option

If they were mine i would give them a good rub down with coarse and fine emery cloth.

  • Thanks for all the info and suggestions. It was a big help. I'll try to file down the burrs and see how it comes out.
