Which mech do I need

Currently have a 3 speed xt front mech on my marin wolf ridge 6.9.
I've recently bought full slx kit, 2 x 10 shifters, double cranks, cassette, chain to replace knackered old stuff. Only thing I didn't replace is the front mech as is in good condition.
My question is will the front 3 speed mech work with the new 2 x 10 stuff or do I need a new 2 speed front mech - to be honest I forgot it was 3 speed as had been running a double and bash. If I need to get a new front mech, probably slx or xt, which one will I need bearing in mind the frame it'll be on and the fact that there's hardly any room on the seat tube? The front mech cable goes underneath the frame.
I really need to get it sorted tomorrow as can't bear nog going out on Sunday.
Thanks in advance!

If you've been running it with two rings, why would you think it won't work with two rings?I don't do smileys.

Because I've spent a good couple of hours messing around with it and the mech doesn't seem to swing far enough over to engage the big ring - it has been a long week so maybe a fresh head in the morning will sort it out?0
