Winter windproof, water resistant top

Looking for a cheap zip up top for the winter mainly to keep the wind out but water resistant would be handy as well. Biked over a mates the other night and wore my Aldi merino base layer with a long sleeve Royal jersey on top and was warm enough out of the wind. But as soon as the wind picked up alittle bit it went straight through and I was cold.

On the way back that night I put my el cheapo Aldi/Lidl rain cycle jacket on as well which kept me warm and the wind out but was a bit sweaty by the time I got home. Jacket also has a bit of hi vis on it so handy for the numpty car drivers.

Have seen this https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/t ... ing-shirt/ on offer on Thursday which is the sort of thing I am after but looks abit roadie. Or maybe this at Decathlon http://www.decathlon.co.uk/insulat-3-ls ... 16556.html

Any better options out there? Not after a skin tight fit as I am built for comfort not speed. Also a bit of high vis would be a bonus as well as not being boil in the bag like my rain jacket.

  • Went for that Aldi top, looks good for the money, although is a little bit snug around the one pack :D
Also had to take my merino top back after only one use as some holes appeared in the fabric. Got a refund and bought one of the new base layer tops, not merino but needed a long sleeve base layer.
