I am looking to upgrade my Frameset to an Aero Bike frame, I only race in Triathlons but also want to use the bike for some longer sportive and summer riding. I am considering the Cervelo S5 or the Wilier Cento 1 Air. However I am concerned that the S5 may be too race orientated for an all round bike. Does anyone have any experience of either frame and could recommend the best one for my needs.

I've never ridden the Willier, but I have been riding an S5 as my main bike for most of 2013.

Whilst almost any road bike can do a decent job of TTs and sportives - the S5 is definitely biased more towards the 'fast for shorter periods' end of the spectrum. If you can get a good position on it, with a pair of clip-ons and deep wheels it won't be far behind many TT bikes. That said, the front-end is higher than most 'race bikes' so getting it in a really good aero position may need you to size down slightly or go with a severely negative rise stem.

You can certainly ride it in sportives and it's not as bone-jarringly stiff as some reports make out, but I think it's fair to say that if you do a long ride on it, you do feel it. I'm planning on doing Raid Pyrenees next year and I won't be taking the S5!

As with any bike comparison, it's all about the fit - some will work better than others, particularly if you're planning on adding clip on tri bars. Cervelos fit me really well so I've stuck with them - YMMV

The Wilier is a derivative of the cento uno which is a superb all day frame, i would go for the Wilier, that and i'm not really a fan of Cervelos.
