mule seems to be the normal recomendation. i was between the charge 10 and mule.
went with mule in the end because it was cheaper and a bit more space.GT Avalanche 1.0 Disc 2011, Fixie, frankenbike0 -
If you want minimal/lightweight look at the Camelbak Lobo... not a lot of storage space but will carry the bare essentials (tools, tube, phone, wallet, food and lightweight waterproof)0

+1 for camelbak mule. Enough room for all the essentials and a softshell for the chilly days. Mine has been faultless for 2 years.0

You must single handedly keep sports direct in business0

I only bought one of them, lol.
I got a hat from there for £8 on Friday though. Got a really nice Firetrap coat a few weeks ago too. A friend of mine christened it Shop Of Evil, 'cos she can't set foot in there without buying something. She has a point, lol.0 -
Mules are great but another one to consider is the Dakine Drafter.

Small, lightweight, super adjustable and space for just enough supplies / tools etc. Also holds a fullface or standard trail lid + all your pads.
Found it to be a much comfier fit than the Mule I also tried (albeit in the shop). I also prefer the bladder that comes with the Dakine.
I also have the Dakine Photo Mission camera backpack and can vouch for their excellent build quality.Current:

I have one of these and i must say its been utterly brilliant for the last 2 years and doesnt show any signs of wear!

You can put all sorts in it, including a helmet in the back part! (if you take your helmet off while eating bacons or a gayer cake eater)
