Any Deuter Race EXP Air users?

I no longer wish to be a hipster with my messenger bag. As good as it is, I am pretty sure the lack of "aero" qualities and constantly having to move it back in position has cost me many victories on the SCR race track.

Its also sweaty!

I rarely fill it up (its 20l) so I thought of downsizing. I normally carry a shirt, a large lunch, tools pump, tube, phone, keys, wallet, watch, rain jacket ect.... Will it all fit comfortably with the extender open? Now currently my shirt slips in the laptop sleeve and arrives to work fairly uncreased, anyone had any problems packing one in the Deuter?

Opinions on it would be welcome, I have a wiggle voucher burning a hole in my pocket..

PS: I don't want a giant saddle bag & panniers are not an option.

That lot would just about squeeze into the Deuter Race that I use, so the Race Exp should be fine.
I'm tempted to get one too as the new work doesn't have the facilities for storing kit that the old one did so I'm going to be moving more stuff around.

I have 4 different sizes. All great.

Mainly use the 10+2L for commute, leaving shoes at work.

I have one under my desk that I no longer use daily if you want to try before you buy.

  • I have one. Over all it's excellent. The only tiny negative is that if it's empty or containing next to nothing it sits high on your back and can touch the back of your neck if you go anywhere near an aero position.
  • @koncordski Cheers but I have a wiggle voucher to use so think I'll just go for it.

@JT Not a problem for me, there will always be something in it.

@KK I am keen to try something new as my current setup is wholly unsuitable.
May I try? Near Cannon St

No worries, i commute in and out of cannon street (although not tonight, going out of waterloo) everyday. Can meet you there monday morning/evening or you can come and get it from my office today if you're bored. Canary Wharf (south quay DLR). PM me.
