Moving house so no longer two minute walk to work and might as well get a nice HT with CTWS for about £750 want something for a bit of trail fun not arsed about it being mtb for the commute. Might as well get something decent. Here's what I've been looking at.

For me the halfords bikes offer the best bang for the buck.
The Bizango just won MBR bike of the year and is great value for money.
Personally, I'd go with the Boardman though.0 -
Have you checked what shops you can use with your employers "cycle scheme" ?
Most of the cycle schemes don't seem to include Halfords for some reason.0 -
I'll have to check I just thought that if the website had the scheme that ment they're included? :?SHUT UP AND RIDE!!!

There are quite a few different schemes - some places have their own version, I think Evans is one. They are not interchangable as far as I know. I've used cyclescheme with worked out well for me, through Winstanleys.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

Halfords run their own scheme which is why they aren't available through cycle scheme etc.........Decathlon are though.....Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

As above. Other shops in 'cyclescheme' include On One, Merlin, Winstanleys, Real Cycles, All Terrain Cycles I think and many local bike shops. But NOT Halfords, Wiggle, Chain Reaction & Evans. Cylescheme website has a shop search facility.
How about: http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-shop/b ... -bike.html ?
Depends exactly which scheme you are on though.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0 -

On One 456 would be the obvious choice then.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

Saracen Killi Cromo here in 17'' - nice bike, good deal, under budget, they'll do cyclescheme on it: http://www.plushhillcycles.co.uk/mtb-news.html Think you'd have to pay for delivery as its on cyclescheme.
If you can spend a grand then you can get this on cyclescheme too: http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/produ ... _2012_Bike Again a really good deal. I ended up choicing this bike recently. Cost on cyclescheme is 1100. Often there is a surcharge on sale bikes when using cyclescheme as it ends up costing the shop.
Many places won't do sales bikes at all on cyclescheme, which is why the deals here are really good. On One might charge a little too but their bikes are great value anyway.
I'd also considered the 456s & the Whyte 19 steel which is/was 1100 at Winstanleys (1200 on cyclescheme I think). Very very happy the the 905 - the lightest/fastest option yet still great on the descents. I've ridden in the Lakes a few times since & love it. Very confidence inspiring ride & light (under 25lbs I think).
That's all I've got... hope it helps.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0 -
