I started wearing liners under my Pearl Izumi Cyclone gloves a couple of seasons back and it took me a while to realise they were actually making my hands colder because the combo was a bit too tight (I've fat fingers). I stopped using the liners and then realised that while my hands get cold initially when I go out in very cold weather (say <5 deg C), after 15 minutes or so they warm up again. I think your body reduces the blood flow to your extremities when it encounters low skin temperatures to retain heat but then when your core temperature stays up because you're working hard, the bloodflow to your extremities increases again.
Not saying this is the case for you! Just a caution that tight gloves can make your hands colder and it's not always obvious this is happening. Might be a problem if your gloves are too small or if you try and squeeze in a liner glove where there isn't really enough room.
