Ultra short warranty and a reputation for snapping frames. I wouldn't touch a Commencal, especially for harder riding.
never heard of this reputation for snapping frames0 -
was a good few years back on the rear triangle of the old meta, think it was the 2009 bikes if memory serves. they used to just swap it too the next years model swing arm if you broke it.0

Joining in late to this debate but.....
I'll say build your own so you get what you want and I'll champion the Intense Carbine for that reason 160mm travel or 140 and with some clever drop outs 26" or 650b.
Otherwise I quite like the look of the Canyon Strive Al.
https://www.canyon.com/_en/mountainbike ... ve-al.htmlI'm going to blow the bank on a new build ( within reason ) NOW DONE!!

They still have a terrible warranty. I was tempted to buy a Supreme DH (over £4k) and it has a 6 month frame warranty which excludes downhill riding! So if you use it for what it's designed for it has no warranty. I think it was a year warranty on their other frames. A warranty that short suggests that they don't have a lot of confidence in their products.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

that's pretty shocking although you have the sale of goods act and the 2 year EU directive giving you some protection.0 -

I decided not to buy one. Norco also exclude downhill riding from the warranty of their downhill bike.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

Been looking at that recently. Really fancy one in orange.0 -
Is the El Guappo frame good? It's certainly cheap. I haven't seen any reviews.
It's as cheap as a 2-3 year old used big brand frame.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

They used to sell for a much higher price before On One bought the company. Ed Oxley loves his. Admittedly he didn't pay for them, but he seems a genuine, no bulls**t kind of guy, and he genuinely loves riding, so I honestly don't think he'd be riding them if he didn't like them. I rode one of his El Guapos (th emedium) briefly, and I'm no expert (quite the opposite), but it felt good to me. And that orange is lurvely...

I think I might have a trip down to Rotherham when I'm looking at moving on from my Boardman and have a good gander at them in the showroom. I'm gonna do another of Ed's courses in spring, so will have a longer try of his bike then.0 -

Triple chainring seems a very odd choice for a bike like that. Nice suspenders though.0 -
The Europeans like a triple on their AM bikes. No idea why but it's simple enough to change to the set up of your choice.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Thanks for all the input I have narrowed my choices down to the nukeproof am and the trek slash. The trek looks like a great solid bike. Has anyone owned one and got any experince on it?0
