I'm after some for wet rides/commutes.

Sportful have their NoRain ones:

and their Fiandre bibtights get some good reviews

Castelli Fluido gets a mention but I'm not sure they are around any more...?

Endura Stealth-Lite?

any others?
anyone got the Sportful ones?

Or are they too cheap for real mamils? Kept my lower half dry through the lakeland monster miles. Top half was sodden, as were feet. But legs were dry and toasty.

I asked this a while back and everyone commented that the No Rain, Fluidos and Nano type bibshorts all use a coating and this soon wears off after a few washes.

In the end I bought a pair of Castelli Sorpasso Windstopper (the new version just launched this season) and while the WS panels are only shower resistant they are brilliant for wet rides as when they are wet you really dont notice and being windproof they stop you from getting cold. Really pleased with them and best of all there is no coating to wear off.

    cheers

Is the WS material still stretchy bigpikle?
I've tried WS tights in the past and they were a tad restrictive, particularly around the knees. I agree though, the main thing is keeping warm, rather than simply dry.

    These are great:

I've used a pair for a couple of winters now, and they've been great. Waterproof panels on knees, shins and seat, fleecy lined and a fantastic pad. You won't need anything more.

+1 for the WS Sorpassos really impressed with mine, though I've only done about 100km in mine so can't yet vouch for longevity. Still first impressions very good, and they are stretchier (and therefore a better fit) than my Gore WS

the WS panel is about knee to groin and on the front only. They are slightly heavier weight overall and not quite as light and flexible feeling as the skin-like normal Sorpasso, but I havent noticed anything restrictive about them. It doesnt rustle or really feel like anything other than a thick roubaix fabric really. After 70km today in high winds and constant pi55ing rain I was VERY impressed with them.

mmm the Enduras look tempting but the last pair I had were an odd cut, so hopefully these will be better. I feel a big try-on session coming up.

I'm 6'1", 13st 3lbs with a 34" inside leg and 33" waist. The medium is an excellent fit and there's nothing odd about the cut.

This was the best price I found and it looks like they're still the best price out there:

cheers Matt. I did look at the Endura sizing chart online but it did seem unusual. I'm usually a large (e.g. Gore, Endura in the past) or even XL in the Italian brands (Giordana) but Endura has me down as medium for the Equipe, like you, so I'll probably order that.

  • Castelli still do the Nanoflex Bibshort which is a good option for showery 5-10 C weather (paired with the Nanoflex legwarmers).

    http://castelli-cycling.com/en/products/detail/712/

Not really waterproof as they leak around the knees, then the thighs then the back (i.e where you repeatedly stretch them and from constant wheel spray) etc but they're better than a summer short in poor weather. Like the rest of the Nanoflex garments a mix of rain and wind resistance makes them very flexible.

I've also bought the Sorpasso WS as my deep winter tight and while it hasn't been cold enough for me to wear them yet I have high expectations. Fit is excellent and while it's only first impressions (in the shop) they don't seem restrictive.
