A few months ago a set about getting my first road bike, however a series of unfortunate and costly events have delayed me in getting the Revolution Cross that I had decided upon buying. During this time I have used by old Giant MTB with 30cc tyres I bought as a step towards more road biking as opposed to the trail rides I had been doing. This has changed my mind entirely, I no longer seek a happy medium between a road and off road bike as ill have my giant for that. SO therefore now with a bit of money saved up im at it again. This time looking for the best possible road bike I can get for around and preferably bellow £500. I've found four that I really like the look of and any help would be greatly appreciated.

HI Daron,
If I was in your position I'd be looking at the classifieds or ebay.
Heres an example (ive no connections to the seller, just showing what you can get for your money) viewtopic.php?f=40090&t=12948314 and slightly below that ad is another decent enough bike, viewtopic.php?f=40090&t=12946828
If your set on one of those bikes, i'd probably go for the felt. Wiggle Customer Care gets a good rep on here. I personally would be trying to get the best bike for my buck, so better wheels, tyres and groupset (Tiagra minimum for me).0 -
Thanks for the suggestion, will have a look through a few of the bikes available when i get home.0

I quite like the felt, was almost tempted to get one myself..0

I really like the look of the defy 2 but seen a few for sale, do you know if there is anything wrong with them or just more on the market?0 -
I recently got myself a Forme Longcliffe 3.0 from Rutland for £450. Wouldn't be a bad start for a road bike if they still have them. It's got 10 speed Tiagra with Microshift shifters and Mavic CXP22 rims so not bad for the money.0

Daron go and take a look in your local Decathlon, bargains galore this time of year for your budget ..0

oxoman wrote:Looked at the forme longcliffe 1 with veloce very nice but went for a Moda Bolero built to my spec instead. The CXP22's on the Forme are pretty bombproof rims as well, only down side for me is microshift shifters. Look at Moda Intro currently discounted at various places.
Have to say I'm not sold on the Microshift levers either so they'll get swapped at some point. It's a really nice bike all in though, especially for the discounted price. And you can't go wrong with green anodized spoke nipples either!0 -
Like the look of the longcliffe, decent spec. Also had a look at what others rutland had to offer, all great prices. Never seen them before and from what i can tell do they fix up second hand bikes? Not that it matters if there decent.0
