Decent Extenal Bottom Bracket?

My brother is after a new external bottom bracket, but one that is actually half decent. The last two Deore ones have seized up after one muddy ride and it's been the non drive side both times. The Deore externals used to be ok, but recently they seem to have gone down the pan.
Budget, £30-£40.
Some options are:
Shimano XTR M970
Nukeproof
Race Face X-Type Team XC
Anyone tried any of these? any other options in the specified price range?

Thanks for the feedback. He is going to give the XTR one a try.0

He's not overtightening the preload is he? Or could the frame need facing?0

No and no. Just the last two deore externals have seized up, prior deore and race face ones have lasted a lot longer. It's not a time frame issue either, the last two deores have been fine up until a wet muddy ride.0

XT, never had any problems what-so-ever. I usually take them off after about 4 months hard riding to clean and regrease. I also slightly grease the threads.CAAD9

I have Hopes stainless steel version, which has out lasted any external I have ever had. However my brother doesn't want to pay that much.
He ordered an XTR for around £22.0 -
With you on the ceramic side.... out of interest can I ask why you didn't turn your brother onto a Hope BB? The bearings are replaceable, beautifully made and Hope customer service is excellent0

And at least three times the price.I don't do smileys.
