I have a Pdf from Oldham council that have a couple of routes, one being Diggle Jiggle, which i am sure some will know
http://www.visitoldham.com/xsdbimgs/A3%20Cycling%20Guide%20-%20FINAL.pdf

My plan is to get a train to Stalybridge do some cycling on the moor and then get train home from Stalylbridge or ride home to Levenshulme, depending on how i feel.
Are the routes signed or do i need a map.
A hybrid bike should be ok?.
I guess it's best to get off before dark, until i know the routes better.

  • Without seeing them I doubt the trails will be signed, at least not as well as your average trail centre anyway.

It looks like the rides are aimed more at the family type so I'd have thought a hybrid will be fine however the moors do get very muddy as there is a huge catchment area for rain fall and the run off lasts for days after a downpour.
    Advocate of disc brakes.

I've not done that route but I know the area and it isn't signed as such, this is a better map:

Hybrid would be OK for pootling, although it probably is a bit wet up there. Ride home to Levy would be predominantly rolling downhill!
