I have 26" s-xc2 on a 2013 Trance. Can someone tell me exactly what I need to convert these to tubeless? I have looked round the net and found quite a lot of conflicting info.

I've read a couple of layers of gaffa tape may work or do I need a full stans kit or just the yellow tape?

Any advice appreciated.

I did mine with the full stans kit. soapy water also helps hugely in getting the tyre seated, as does a decent track pump.

I find a removalable core valve much easier than pouring it in as well.

  • Thanks for your reply.

Did you get the standard stans kit or did you need the 'olympic' rim strip?

Gaffa tape is porous so that wont work.
Im using superstar rim tape and tractor tyre sealent. It went up easily and has stayed up.
  • Interesting and sound cheap.

There's lots of ghetto tubeless advice on the net using Gorilla tape, which I thought was just gaffa tape. But if the stans tape works then I may try that.

Tractor sealant? - i imagine this stuff is all pretty much the same, just branding etc?

Can't remember what mine was, but the tape was yellow..

Tractor sealent can eventually solidify if you ride in sub zero temperature regularly. It is cheap though.
