Im a roadie but with the weather turning i quite like the idea of going out and getting plastered in mud !!!
In terms of buying a MTB i wouldnt want to invest heavily but would look for something cheap and functional.
Im pretty clued up with the different price points of Road bikes and with road you wouldnt want to touch anything under £300 and even at that point you are pretty limited. (im thinking Triban3 and Carerra TDF)
MTB seem to be a bit cheaper in general but like road bikes is there a price point that you want to stay above when considering new. You cant pick up a MTB from Halfords for £99 but would this be worth even considering for somebody that simply wants to go out and have some fun in the mud when the conditions are bad ?
And would a "cheap" MTB be noticeably different to a mid level bike
Thanks

If you want to hit the rough stuff the suspension fork should have hydraulic damping. Unfortunately this costs, but the bikes parts are usually better elsewhere. The decathlon rockrider 5.3 is a good start.0

Would that be a MTB equivalent to the Triban ??0

No way of comparing really, but it is the benchmark entry level mtb.0
