MTB Freehub

I'm building a bike around lynskey frame. I have most bits now apart from wheels. I have SRAM force road kit and the s700 hydro shifters for disc. I'm looking at a set of Easton MTB wheels which state they are "9 speed". Despite lots of help from professor google I'm unable to discover if freehubs are all the same on mtb wheels. What is the position in general and will SRAM 10sp road cassette fit on a MTB freehub?
Thanks

8, 9, and 10 speed free hubs are all the same, just the gear spacing (and chain width) change.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

uless you pick a road cassette and that does not include the Tiagra which is just like the MTB cassettes in that they do not need a spacer."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

so do i need one on a shimano mtb hub and a shimano mtb cassette? i'd read somewhere that 10sp needs the spacer?
i've just put a new freehub on and thought i must of missed / lost the spacer when i took the old freehub off, i was going to go in the garage tonight to put the spacer i've bought on!!0 -
Thanks again.
Most Shimano 10 speed cassettes need a spacer on road hub. So it look like it will be needed on mtb hub.0 -
No.
Shimano 9 speed freehubs need a 1mm spacer when used with certain 10 speed Shimano road cassettes. If you have the 10 speed specific road freehub (on some 7800 and 6700) this is not needed.
10 speed MTB cassettes and all SRAM cassettes require no spacers - the cassette is 1mm wider than a Shimano road cassette.0
