mechanical discs and in line adjusters

do i need inline brake adjusters on my avid bb7 disc brake bike? I recently redid the caliper positioning and pad spacing (as the shop did a crap job) and without touching the adjusters i got the setup perfect for me. I've read they are there to eradicate cable slack on setup but i found pulling the cable as much as possible and moving the calliper lever arm a tad before bolting the cable worked fine.
just curious, as along with the gear adjusters, its looks a little cluttered with 4 adjusters so close to each other.

I fitted them when I upgraded to BB7 but found that they were not needed, so now running without them, all the adjustment being done on the calipers

I installed them when I fitted BB7s to my Kaffenback, then I read the instructions which said they were to compensate for pad wear.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Don't bother - there's plenty enough pad-adjustment on the caliper. All the adjuster provides is a means for water to ingress the cables.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

You're actually not supposed to have them. The adjustment should be made at the pads so you use all the leverage of the caliper.

They came on my winter bike but I've just left them alone - you can see that if you adjust them it shortens the travel of the caliper arm so you lose the mechanical advantage.

If you use them you're adjusting the wrong end of the mechanism.
I'm left handed, if that matters.

ive got them installed on my cx build and was under the impression it helped with any cable slack. They seem to allow me to fine tune the brakes slightly ...

Thanks for the reply guys :D Done about 200 miles on the bike since I set the brakes up, haven't touched the adjusters at all. I haven't even noticed any cable stretch yet, if needed I'll just re tension the cable by hand. Inboard and outboard pad adjusters do all the work (pad wear, brake feel, etc). Gonna do without on next cable install.
