Yossie being banned forever

Errr, he doesn't know the reason why - he was never informed about the reason behind the ban or the ban itself.

Can a Mod please pm me the reason why and I will pass it onto him.

    I never received any notification when I got banned either, it took me emailing Faye to find out and to be fair she was very helpful and explained what she had found out, she also said that when a ban is issued the mod is meant to be able to give a reason why but that function is broken, I guess it still is :roll:

    I was sure the reason was outlined to him - but I have pmd the above.

    The lifting of the ban is not open for discussion, all the mods are unanimous on this.

    The devs hopefully will fix the reason box soon, albeit it is very general.

    I appreciate that the function for Mods to give a reason for a ban is broken at the moment but surely not too many people get banned in a day so even if the automated reason thing is broken surely it's not beyond the wit of man for the mod's to create a email to that person, after all you have our email addresses, banning without being given a reason is not good form in my opinion, especially when it's a perminant ban :roll:

    The ban list is enormous! I do email some people, but even then they can go unread or the email is defunct. Many sign up with one off accounts. Others it is often obvious why they are banned.

    But that function does need fixing quick.

    I wouldn't have believed too many people got banned, you live and learn :lol:

    Obviously not you who banned me as no contact what-so-ever was made with me!!

    My ban was over three months ago and I was told then the tech guys were onto it, I guess the fix is proving tricky :wink:

    Out of interest, is there a figure for how many people get banned in an average day, or week..?

    Does vary enormously, has only been four today but can be several dozen a day!

    One of the problems is up banning with spammers, have to be very careful with that of course.

    I've spoken to Yossie and he wants to apologise for "being a weapon" (his words, not mine) to all who's time he has wasted: if he could come back on he promises not to be such a "ninja" (again, his words, not mine) and to avoid miffing people off. He also said lots of other things but I'm not sure what they mean so won't transcribe hereto - they weren't rude, just some weird maroon language.

    Mods: please can he come back? Occasionally he can be quite funny. Not very often mind you, but occasionally. Maybe once every 1,000 posts? If anything it means that I'll get a bit of piece and quiet.

    I agree with John, Yossie was a pretty harmless character wasn't he? Yes he might have taken the pee a bit and pushed some people's buttons but I guarantee there are far worse offenders on here who provoke and insult on a regular basis but still they stay :?

    I don't ever recall Yossie being racist, sexist, homophobic, anything like that, the only thing he was ever guilty of was posting complete nonsense :lol:

    He was also a very helpful member who would give advice where he could across various sections, more than can be said for many on here.

    He's been banned over a month now, surely if all he did was waste people's time that's enough, a life time ban seems excessive, can it be reconsidered?

    In fact the only times I believe Yossie ever lost his temper was when people were racist, xenophobic, etc: a weapon at times yes, but pretty darn old fashioned come manners/beliefs/rights & wrongs, etc.

    Agree as well re usefulness - there area lot of people on here who add nothing but banality and faux outrage: at least the fool knew how to build a bike and how to repair stuff.

    Please Mods? He's now becoming a right whinger.

    As he has been banned permanently does that mean I could change my user name to 'Yossie' as his username is now available, can we have an auction for it?
