  • About all you will probably find are bridleways, although they are a bit hit or miss if they are usable. Im in Corby and having tried out my local bridleways found alot of them arent usable due to lack of marking overgrown blocked etc.
Have managed to put together a 15 mile ride thats about 40/60 road/offroad around cottingham, pipewell, rushton.
Get yourself an os landranger map no; 224 and get exploring.

If you want to get out for a ride anytime give me a shout.

Not Burton I know but if you know the Harvester pub in Kettering on the way to Corby there is a gravel loop for dog walkers and the like. From there you can head out towards newton/geddington. get to geddington and you can pick up a bridle way to Brigstock Country park (although the bridleway it is now a swamp for the winter). I used to live in Kettering but never really ventured out Burton way, I think there is some riding out the back of Wellingborough golf club which you can get to by following the Ise brook but don't quote me. You can get some miles in your legs on the B roads in the area, some nice rolling roads to get the legs working around Orlingbury/broughton/loddington etc.. Have a look on Strava using the explore function, the way I look at it, if something is worth riding someone will create a section for it! Good luck!
  • From Burton Latimer, go out the Cranford Road, across the A6 and you're on a short bit of the old Cranford road that is a closed road that takes you across the A14. That's the sum total of off road I know in that area and even then I'm afraid it's not really off road.

Having said that and you're willing to ride on the road for a short bit, if you follow that route and ride through the Cranfords to the junction with the A14, just before the junction there's Twywell Hills and Dales, a small country park on the left that you could ride around. These are Northants hills and dales so nothing too challenging.
  • Bikes aren't welcome at Twywell, you will get asked to leave if spotted by the wardens.

Irchester country park is better, although in the last few years bikes have been made less welcome.

These guys http://www.ajcycles.co.uk will be able to give you some route ideas, about 8miles down the road in Higham Ferrars - they do shop rides now and again too... as mentioned above, check out Strava for local sections.

The northants clay is not your friend in winter, however there is still reasonable riding to be had...

Look for Geddington chase, Fermyn woods, woodford woods, the old british steel quarry north end of kettering... Irchy as mentioned... Nothing super gnarly but the odd section of single track and a few technical bits to keep you awake.
A berm? were you expecting one?
