Triple shifters work with double chainset?

Anybody know if 105 (5700) Triple shifters will work with a compact (50/34) double chainset?

I'm looking a 2nd hand bike that is currently running a triple & rather than change shifters & chainset, I was hoping I could just swap over the chainset & adjust the stops accordingly?
