Stem stack height.

Excuse my ignorance here. I've just changed from a Thomson X4 to X2 stem. Now my Chris King headset has a lot of play in it and my forks are rocking. I looked on the Thomson website and saw that the stack height difference between the two stems is 2mm. Can I take up this play if I put a 2mm spacer under the stem with my other spacers or do I have to get my forks cut?

Thanks in advance.

  • Yes to either. You could also put a 2mm spacer on top of the stem if you have the height sorted to you needs.

Really the stem should be slammed, but if you really need to either of the other options will work.
