Glare from the shifting cable outers

Sounds odd?
My commuter has Tiagra 9 speed - so side exit cables for the gears. As much as I'd love to change to hidden cabling, it isn't going to happen ...
Last winter, just after I bought the bike I found that the front light would cause a lot of glare off the silver grey outer cabling - so I applied some black electrical tape and that's got rid of the worst ..
Just wondered what anyone else did?
Position the lights so they don't shine on the outers? Can't easily do that on mine

Some matt black paint would be worth a go.http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.

If you put a set of tri bars on and then plonk your front light on the front of the tri bars your glare problems disappear. Oh, and you get to have a lie down on the way to work.
Works for me! Although with my panniers I'm not too aero, just comfy.0
