bottom bracket compatability question

Hi,

I need to get a new external bottom bracket for my Fsa omega mega Exo compact chainset. I was wondering if I need to change it for an identical fsa mega Exo bottom bracket, or can I use a shimano bb (thinking tiagra or sora)?

I heard somewhere that if you use an fsa chainset with a Shimano bottom bracket that you will end up with a creak after a while. Is that true?

    You should be able to get a Shimano bottom bracket - and i've not heard of any problems with creaking (other than when people dont grease the threads during installation.

    I don't know where the creaking thing came from. I think I read it on another post on a different website.
