Straight off the bat. Im no tubular expert. Ive fitted a handful with no issues, except this time.
I got some Vittoria Pistas for my new track wheels, fitted them as usual but there's a horrible hop at the valve. I know what I need to do but would appreciate some feedback before I get the power tools out. Id like to deflate the tyre, remove it from the rim and counter sink the valve hole with my drill so that 'proud' area at the stem sits in the rim eliminating the hop. Another thin layer of glue on the tyre and back on.
Is that about right or do I have to start at the beginning again.
Many thanks for any pointers.

It is the right thing to do... if you have the right countersinkleft the forum March 20230

I was thinking about a 10mm drill bit and gently opening up that valve hole. Only a few mm's mind.
Re; the glueing do you think Id get away with another layer on the tyre after Ive recessed that pesky valve hole?
Cheers for the reply btw. 8)Rock 'n' Roule0 -

be careful using a drill bit rather than a countersink, if it bites it can go a lot deeper than planned - experience talking here!my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0

Noted, I've a countersink somewhere. I'll use that to save any drama.
