Thanks to cooldad I found Decathlon bikes which seems to be nice and affordable for beginners.
Now I'm stuck in between these 3:

Rockrider 5.2
http://www.decathlon.co.uk/rockrider-52 ... 07349.html

Rockrider 6.3
http://www.decathlon.co.uk/rockrider-63 ... 08677.html

corratec x-vert halcon 2013
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/corr ... -prod89420

Please help me choose, I mean Rockrider 6.3 looks really nice, but it's heavy. Then again 5.2 looks good for price, but corratec has a nice discount right now.

It's not available right now, any other good alternatives?
  • I personally wouldn't buy a full sus bike for less than 800 pounds. Its a major extra set of parts on a very tight budget which generally means there are some serious compromises in the spec department (v.poor quality shocks that won't help you much on the trail), extra weight and the all crucial wheel choice is usually rubbish (heavy or weak, or both).

I'd stick to selecting a good hardtail at your budget, it will be lighter, work better and you will enjoy it more! I'd look at the spec on the rockrider 5.3 and use that as your yard stick for quality and then see if you can find any bikes on sale that come close. (Try googling some reviews to get and idea of how they ride - all these bikes looks very similar on paper but the frame geometry can mean they handle quite differently)
