Please advice - buying MBT

I am a MTB beginner. I need a MBT which is good on trails, but also good on road.
I go in bumpy trails every weekend and 12 km. on road everyday to work.

My budget is around 400£
I guess I should go for a 29er.

Any suggestions?

Depends where you are, but if you have Decathlons near you at your budget thats where I would start.

Why do you think you need a 29er? At that price have a look at the Decathlon Rockrider range.

A 29er road bike is faster on the road.

Not really. At this price you get a much lower spec 29er.
