today has started with a negative

No milk for my morning cuppa, apparently we ran out yesterday and the wife was too busy looking after the kids  At least I can claim I've done the shopping this week as I have bought the milk and the paper.

Today is some study and then a run/cycle depending on time and then later of to the Uncles for a great fireworks display and a drool over some cars (hopefully his newly restored 250SWB will be there)

Right onwards to tea and study

    Could always be worse fella.

Turned up for work blissfully unaware that I'm working a 17 hour shift today.

Brilliant. Hopefully some bike related parcels will arrive to lighten my mood.
  • Morning Losers!
Today, I am spending the rest of the morning mixing a track I recorded for someone the other day. Nothing like leaving it to the last minute, I have until 12:30, and haven't started yet... :?

Later, I'm off to buy some long-johns as I have the football later, and it gets damn cold sat still for that long (Bury rarely score, so it's not like we jump up to celebrate much)

Then home to do nothing. Maybe cinema, but I'd be billy no-mates, though that hasn't stopped me before.

    Laters!

    Morning Skivers,

A few jobs to get done then its off out to have a quick nose around my LBS to see if there's anything I fancy buying. Then meet wifey and ankle biter for a bite to eat in town after they've finished wasting my money. May have to be a Full English Lunch.

Chips are a must. That's how to distinguish between it being lunch or just a late breakfast

I was planning on heading out on the bike this morning but it is pouring down and blowing a gale here. I guess I'll just have to content myself doing sweet FA today.

There may be a few beers later to help pass the time.

    Later......

    Evening bumders

Hockey match win today which is good, mid-table with a game in hand. Newcastle beat Chelsea too which has cheered me up after the embarassment last weekend.

Currently back at the not down south home for a few days. Bikes and studying/revision tomorrow, then hopefully will be getting some wisdom teeth pulled on Monday, fingers crossed it happens as I'm fed up and just want them out.

Had all mine taken out a few years ago after loads of problems with infections and the worst tooth ache known to man. Was dreading having them out as dentist said they wouldn't be easy to get out as I had really deep roots so decided to go for conscious sedation.

Had to wait about 3 months to get into the dentisits who could do the sedation. They were only supposed to take out 1 side at a time but the next apointment didn't turn up and as I hadn't been sleeping properly in ages was absolutely knackered, so pretty much passed out after they gave me the injection. They took out all 4 at once when they knew their next appointment didn't turn up.

You are apparently still awake and can speak etc but you have hardly any memory of what happens after the injection. Can just about remember them trying to get the 2 teeth out that had no anesthetic (can't do both sides as you can swallow your tongue) and someone saying I was doing really well and then they gave me some more sedation juice and then came around in the recovery lounge. Although you are still high as a kite and walking with legs that feel like jelly is fun.

Spent the week living on health shakes to start with then moving onto soup with no bits and after that could open my mouth and chew just enough to manage Heinz big soup. After 2 weeks I could eat soft food like well cooked pasta or a sandwich but it would take about 20-30 mins to eat it, and my jaw would ache like hell afterwards. Pretty much back to normal after a month or so.

But the relief of having no tooth ache was well worth the 2 weeks of living on soup. Just remember to use a good medicated mouth wash like the plain Corsodyl a good few times a day, as not only will it keep it clean but it helps to numb your gums as well.

Yeah, kind of resigned myself to a shitty fortnight ahead of me… really not looking forward to the trismus, it's been an awful month so far, half of it I've barely been able to open my mouth enough a single fingertip in. At the moment I can open fairly wide, just hope it's wide enough for the dentist to work.

It's only the 2 on one side that are supposed to be coming out, hopefully shouldn't need sedation, my dentist reckons local alone should be fine and if I want a sedative then it will most likely be my choice. If they decide they want to sedate though then so be it, just as long as I get enough of it as the idea of having sedation agitates me more than having it done without to be honest.

Guess it depends on how the dentist feels most comfortable though. Done a lot of these molar extractions on animals and they really vary in how they need to be done and how long they take, some come out in a couple of minutes, others take ages… chopping up teeth, making flaps, rasping bone… fun stuff!

    I hope you're a vet then, lol.
  • Could be worse.... I'd planned to ride Coed'y'brenin for a weekend on the trails; Drove down Friday evening after work, got to sleep about midnight... went out first thing sat morning, did the cyflym coch trail as a warmup then headed out on the beast.... just after the first fireroad climb you go up a bumpy rocky climb (that was more like a river on Sat).... then snap, looked down, mech hanging there....the hanger had snapped!!!!!! Took the mech & chain off, walked and coasted back to the visitor centre (via beginning of the end section), local bike shops didn't have a hanger that fitted my frame.... Game over, drove home and went for a local club road ride this morning instead!

8hours driving for only 12.5 miles of soaked welsh trail centre riding..... Gutted!!!

Yeah, well 80% of one so far. Don't worry I'm not just a nutter who inflicts pain on animals for "fun", I get to call it work
