  • Buy which ever phone you get along with in the shop then after a couple of weeks realise you should have bought an Iphone 5 or 5s especially as they are only slightly more than Samsung and have a vastly superior operating system. As a previous poster mentioned the 3 network have some great deals with unlimited data, your gonna need unlimited with any smartphone. I am no fan of Apple Corp but they make robust products and the warranty should anything happen is flawless, unless you smash the screen in which case they charge around 140 to replace the phone with another.

please do tell us why exactly iOS7 is better than Android 4.4?
  • So, now I am living in indecision hell:

    - have an iPad, so Apple ID, Apple Apps and use Facetime with SWMBO'd (infrequently)
    - Not a big phone user, but work CrapBerry is just not up to the social side of life (maps, web etc)
    - iPhone 5S screen v.small compared to others
    - Like the simplicity of the Nexus 5 (KitKat), price is good, but review in PC Pro slated camera (8mp, poor focus)
    - See the great reviews Note 3 is getting, but it looks OTT for me
    - LG G2 looks good, but only on Android 4.2 (JellyBean)
    - reading about Google and it's software using your email to know what your up to :-(

So, I think I am going iPhone 5S.

Anyone got any views ? ;-)
All the gear, but no idea...

Yes, of course you're right. I have a 12 month contract at a total cost of £220 all in after which I will own my RAZR I which has decent battery life, is splash proof and does everything I need of it fast and efficiently. Clearly I need the latest iPhone at 2-3 times the total cost.

I went with the nexus 5 in the end, only because someone earlier said it sounded like something out of Bladerunner. Anyone know of good accessory store? Looking for docking thingammy.

Edit: prolly get the Nexus wireless one.

  • Good choice. My wife has a Nexus7 tablet, best bit of tech around.
When it comes to top end phones they are all pretty much of a muchness....

Been a mobile user since the late 80's, seen most of them and to be truthful for the last two years I have converted to an Apple fan, no lock ups, simple back ups that work every time, flexible and reliable.

I have looked at a few of my mates Samsung's and I hate the time lag with touching the screen and something happening, with the iPhone it just works seamlessly.

BTW Being an Ex IT bod, if I had employees all on the road, then would supply them all with iPhones as they are so flexible and easy to configure.

and I have friends who are fed up with their iphones locking up when the memory is more than half full....
  • I went with the 5s, and I'm glad I did. I did like the Samsungs I'd had in the past, however I do prefer the simplicity of the iphone and the smaller size to be fair.

I'd say S4 mini mainly because designing a phone such that, if the component most likely to fail (the batttery) does so you're left with a brick, annoys me (as does google's "hey you don't need local storage! We'll just keep everything you want nice and safe in our ad servers!" attitude). But there are probably better options if you don't have that bugbear.

If you want the best tech kit all round then there is still only 1 choice.
wether you like it or not, apple products are the best all round. They cost a lot but you forget about the price once its in your hands.

You might forget about the price, but it's hard to avoid thinking 'why is this screen so small for a 2013 phone?'

Not if carrying an iPad size device around with no pocket to fit it into isn't your thing.

  • Perhaps less popular than many but for me, my choice after 4 years with BlackBerry was for the Nokia Lumia 925.

    Absolutely no regrets.
