Is this a worth wild upgrade? I've got Reba RL forks on my current bike. Building it onto a new frame and would like some better forks. Would there be much weigh/performance advantage in buying some Sid forks?

Nope...You ve got one of the best forks available. You'd be better off sending it to TFTuned and letting them work their magic with it.

If you upgrade to a SID RCT3 there might be some noticeable difference in the damping and I think weight wise the SID is about ~200g lighter.

Unless you really need to shave off the extra weight not sure if it's worth changing? If its better damping you want then take a look at upgrading the internals of your current fork. Speak to any suspension specialist about the options, TF Tuned , Loco etc ...

Rebas are stiffer than Sids. Unless your an xc racer you would get better value by getting your Rebas tuned.

Rebas are not stiffer than Sids as they use the same external chassis. The weight differences come from the internals.

Even the newer Reba? I was under the impression they had very similar chassis with the SID having better internals and a carbon crown to reduce weight.

I forgot the newer ones have 32mm stanchions. My mistake. The old 28mm Sids were really flexy. My Rebas are a bit flexy as well though.

Only the SID World Cup has the carbon crown/steerer, but yes as stiff as a Reba but lighter. Makes sense.

The old 28mm ones were indeed flexy, they were superseded in 2006 though!

I didn't realise the Sids I rode were that old! They were on a 2011ish Giant XTC I borrowed for a weekend last year.

If they did a womens' version of the Sid they could call it the Nancy.

Clearly retrofitted, very odd choice, the newer ones are vastly superior! I think 2006 was a slight exaggeration actually, as I had Reba WCs then, which I got because the SIDs were still rather noodly! Must have been 2007 they updated them.

Have it white with red dripping down it!?

It makes a really big difference, especially if you re anything like me and what happens inside forks frightens you and you don't dare go in there...

Sent my forks off for a service and tune

only to be told the Reba RL can't be custom tuned because the inside of the fork is a very simple setup. They were returned to me with a basic service

My Rebas were rubbish after I got them 'tuned' by TFT. Just never the same again!

How did you ask them to be tuned?

I ticked the box that said 'custom tune'

Maybe should have bought some second hand SIDs and sent them off

Or if that was aimed at me I didn't, I just wanted a service, they didn't really do the custom tuning as much then, just asked for setup info on weight etc. but the forks felt crap afterwards.
