Tyre size - rim specific

Does anyone know the widest tyre I can fit on a Weinnman DP18 rim? I run the bike fixed geared purely for commuting.

I'm having issues with slow punctures using 25mm schwalbe marathon. Only seems to be the rear.. so far I have changed the rim tape. Given the wheel good clean and changed the inner tube. Hey presto slow puncture again. Oh and tried two different brands of inner tube.

I was looking at the Vittoria randonneur on PX for a tenner in a 32mm. If not wiggle have the 28mm version.

Sheldon Brown suggests that maximum tyre width is 2x the internal width of the rim, so expect you should be looking at no more than 28 or 30mm - bigger and you'll have difficulty getting the tyre to stay put on the rim
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • It is a very narrow rim, unusually narrow... I would suggest you stick the 28 on... shame as the 32 also come as Randonneur PRO, which ride much better
