max max budget is £1500 and I am keen on the Canyon Ultimate.

The AL 9.0 is £1500 with full ultegra, or the CF 7.0 is £1400 with 105 black.

Does anyone have the AL? I would be interested to hear your views.

You could really do with the opinion of someone who's ridden both. As I said in the thread linked to above, I love my AL which is the 105 7.0 2013 version. I can't even tell you how it compares to a carbon bike as I've never ridden one but I've certainly never finished a ride and thought it was in any way harsh as aluminium apparently can be.
  • hi there..

i have the AL 9.0 (105) 2013 and its a fantastic bike. its light enough to climb well and handles great on decents and on the flats. The spec is superb for the price and given its an aluminium frame the bike is generally lighter than most carbon bikes at this price bracket.

i bought this as a winter / commute bike off the back of an Aeroad CF 2012 which i bought as my race bike.

whilst the frame geometries are slightly different i can definitely tell the difference but i would expect this given the spec and weight difference between a £1500 and £3500 bike!

i would look at whats more important to you e.g weight vs groupset etc.

whatever one you choose you won't be disappointed as they are both great bikes.

    good luck.
