Wheel problem

I have a colnago World Cup 2.0. I swapped the stock wheels for mavic aksiums but the back wheel never seems to fit right. The drop outs seem too wide and the wheel moves about some times or rubs against the break other times. I release the break but now can't get the 2nd tab on the cable hooked into the break without it rubbing.

Are the aksiums not compatible? I thought road wheels would be ok.

Any ideas on the breaks which have been nothing but trouble

Thanks

Your Colnago can be set up with discs?

This usually means that the separation between the rear drop outs is 135mm so it can accept MTB hubs rather than 130mm for road hubs. A couple of 2.5mm washers should solve the problem (one each side of the axel).

  • That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up. Are they bike specific washers?

Nope, just some washers to fit over the axles. I'd try to get two thick washers rather than building up the width with lots of small ones.
