I haven't bought a complete wheel from them, but I did buy their Switch Evo hubs a few years ago for a hybrid I had at the time. The hubs were good and I had no problems in around 9000+ miles of use. The freehub was fairly quiet (which is what I like), however, I remember that some people said they had problems with the hubs (pawls failing to engage ), but as I say, mine were perfect.

Yep, Stans Arch EX on Superleggera hubs with CX Ray Spokes

They re very very good indeed! Plus if they go out of true you can return them for a free service! (although I suspect the cost of packaging a wheel and sending it is as much as your LBS will charge anyway but...).

Superstar are pretty much the "go to" place for handbuilt MTB wheels in the uk now, kinda like Merlin Cycles used to be

be careful folks, alloy garmin mounts and plastic garmin tabs don't mix, had 2 from the club turn up to a hill climb with partially populated alloy mounts and no sign of garmins!

the SRAM mount is all plastic, apart from the bolt anyway. the superstar mount looks good, the plastic mount should prevent the tabs on the garmin's being sawn off. plus it seems you can alter the distance to the bars.

I found the SRAM one very cheap and got that - have to say it's pretty good. But then all it has to do is sit there and not move so...

I got our SRAM mounts for £15 from fudge cycles last Jan.

11 quid is dirt cheap for a CNC machined mount, i,d have one but for the fact ive made my own bespoke mount.

I think the point is that Superstar C are known to provide far more technical components than a Garmin mount - and are highly regarded in these components.

Looking at the design it looks pretty good to me.. so very doubt that you'll end up 'with a £500 box of wires'.
The original Garmin mount with those bands works well even off-road - so hardly think it's rocket science to get it right.

the original Garmin mount is not good off road. i lost my 800 that way. fortunately the girl about a mile behind found and gave it back when we went to look for it.
never had the same problem with k-edge and i have crashed with the mount and Garmin staying in place.
i will hold back on the Supastar one until more people have tried it

The Superstar mount is alloy with what looks to be a plastic insert for the Garmin to sit in.
