Not sure exactly what you are saying but.... you have fitted a spacer prior to the Ultegra 10 speed Cassette?
Is the cassette tight with no movement?Yellow is the new Black.0 -
Yes I have the spacer.. its an 11 speed hub so that was slid on first.. the chain runs on the other 9 cogs ok... but doesn't seem to sit into the cogs on the smallest 11 cog..Regards Bazza

On an 11 hub you'll need two spacers to fit a non-Tiagra 10 speed cassette.
On 10 speed hub you already need a spacer to fit an Ultegra cassette (source: I have an Ultegra 10 speed cassette and 10 speed hub and I needed spacer). Because 11 speed hubs are that bit wider you'll need another spacer; these are usually supplied with 11-speed wheels but if not can be purchased cheaply.
I think you're looking for this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-cs-hg-1 ... 5360390269
NB. Shimano 10 speed cassettes require a spacer on a 10 speed hub with the exception of Tiagra which does not. The spacers for 10 speed cassettes and those to make a 10 speed fit an 11 speed hub are not the same size! So just getting two of either type and putting them on won't work either.0 -
Did you use the old lockring? You need a smaller lockring for a cassette with an 11 tooth sprocket. A 12t lockring will foul the chain as (I think) you describe. the 11t lockring should have been supplied with the cassette.0

Ok.. they are 11 speed wheels.
I did Have a spacer with them so I could fit my old 10 speed tiagra cassette.
So that same spacer is on the freehub and by the looks of it the chains running in the right place over the cog looking from above ... is the new ultegra cassette narrower than my old one.
And I've used the locking nut/ring from the new cassette.
Maybe I'll take it off re-fit it again.
Also if I did put another spacer behind it there'd be hardly any thread available to locate the locking ring.Regards Bazza

Tiagra 10 speed has an inbuilt spacer - Ultegra 10 speed does not. So you'll need an spacer for your Ultegra 10 speed cassette (it will come with the cassette) if you are replacing a Tiagra cassette.
This is *in addition* to the spacer you'll need to allow 10 speed to work on an 11 speed hub.
On an 11 speed hub
Tiagra 10 speed will need one spacer
Ultegra 10 speed will need two spacers
(Note the two spacers are not the same type)0 -
OK got that. will go see if my local bike shop sells spacers.
are they a standard size ?Regards Bazza

"And I've used the locking nut/ring from the new cassette"
Does it say 11 T on the lockring?
Can you see what is stopping the chain meshing with the teeth of the 11t sprocket?0 -
OK just been and had a proper look... compared it to my old one.. and Noticed a spacer on the floor under my work bench  No idea how it fell there just placed it behind the cassette and bingo its OK.. so thanks guys your Ideas helped my sort my problem even if it was my fault for dropping the spacer without knowing in the first place.Regards Bazza
