Sora to 105 upgrade query

Hi,

I bought my Cannondale CAAD8 with Sora shifters and associated components and am now planing to upgrade to 105.

I know I will need to replace the shifters, cassette and chain (plus some tape to re-wrap the bars) as an absolute minimum but am unsure of compatibility of front and rear derailleurs and the chain rings.

The chainset is an FSA Vero 50/34 and the derailleurs are obviously Sora. Do I require to replace any of these at this time and is there any other glaring omissions from my shopping list?

Just chain, cassette and shifters. Don't forget to use new cables and cable housing.

Theres a compatibility guide on the shimano site somewhere. I think you'll need new from and rear mechs aswell.

Thanks. I found the document and it looks like I might need mechs too if I'm reading it correctly. At least it doesn't add too much to the overall bill. I already have inner and outer cables ready to fit but am waiting till I get all the bits together for the upgrade.

You definitely do not need new derailleurs. As long as you do not have MTB 10 speed or Shimano 11 speed parts then you are OK with what you have.

So my current 9 speed Sora setup should be ok? I assume I'll likely need to reset the stops etc.

You'll need to redo your indexing when you replace the cables anyway. But your Sora derailleurs are perfectly fine.
