I use a cycleops fluid 2 and have no complaints. Quiet (for a turbo), stable and more than enough resistance. Not used the minoura, so afraid I can't compare the two. Whatever one you get, do yourself a favour and get yourself a fan to go with it!

I have the cycleops jet fluid pro - at the time I bought it there was quite a bit of chat on this forum with several folks recommending the fluid one as a more natural device to use. I didn't compare them - just went with the concensus. It's hard work and you really need something else to focus on if you're to have any chance of persisting with it. The sufferfest dvds seem popular (I stuck with music but not convinced!).

Just to add some balance, I bought the CycleOps Super Magneto Pro. It's a superb piece of kit; solid, smooth, quiet. I can't remember what swayed me to the Magneto over the Fluid, but I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews. I did read a number of reviews regarding seals eventually failing on the fluid units, but not many. Obviously this can't happen on the Magneto.

Either way, if you're looking at either of the top CycleOps units, you're not going to go far wrong.

With regard to keeping the boredom at bay, have a look at the Sufferfest videos, Angels is a good starting point. If you can get to the end of any of them and think it was ok, you're not doing it right !!!
