Pushed the MTB out for the first time in ages

I'm a roadie, and now live near the woods, so I thought I'd push my 10 year old inbred out. loved it.
Things that are good:
1) I found a £20 note in my baggies
2) Disc brakes are incredible
3) It's fun getting muddy
Things that are bad:
1) I hate eggbeaters - fell off sideways when coming to a halt, first time in years
Other items to note.
The bike weighs a ton - but due to gearing and my general increased fitness borne from 4k on the road, I seem to whizz up hills. The bike genuinely feels light.
Looking forward to getting it out again - must search for lights now!

Lights, ebay - Cree T6, you can get the later (smaller/lighter) with a 4*18650 pack and UK charger for £18.
Of course you had fun, MTBing is about something happening every 30 seconds, road cycling about something interesting happening every 30 miles....Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

Get a spare light as the cheapo ones are not that reliable and being stuck in the pitch black in a wood is not good.
I have a road and mtb bike and both are good for different reasons, go get muddy0 -

You can get better for a similar price. The main weaknesses of the one posted are a poor (non waterproof) battery pack with non locking connectors and a very spotty beam.
Still. Compared to lights of just a few years ago they are blisteringly bright.0 -
If you have the cash you can't go wrong with MagicShine MJ-880 or 880UCurrent:

Aren't those the ones that reputably suffer from overheating?0 -

Well that’s what people on teh internetz have said, but I’ve never had any issues with mine. Granted they get very warm but I don’t always run them on full whack and if I do I’m usually going at a decent enough pace to keep them cool.Current:
