So I've got a bike being offered to me and I don't know how to price it? Any campagnolo specialists out there? The components are in really good condition one scrape on the shifters and no cassette

Record ultra 10
Record EPS Chainset
Record Ti Front derailleur
Record Ti rear derailleur
Record Ti brakeset

Soooo what's a fair price??

If it's the polished alloy Record Titanium components circa 1998 in good condition, then there's a healthy demand from collectors for parts in good condition.

Value? It more depends on the frame and wheels i.e. model, age and condition.

Yeah, the rear mech for example in absolute mint condition can sell for £150ish or more. But, when you're talking about the whole bike's value it's different isn't it, a bike often does not sell for the value of it's stripped components... or sometimes it could be sold for more in odd cases.

Valuing components we haven't seen photographed well is impossible. Plus, one man's 'really good condition' is another man's 'that's scratched'.... this always amazes me, some people's 'really good condition' seems to be based on an acceptance that Mechs and Shifters 'get scratched in general use', whereas some of us have heavily used Mechs that don't have a scratch on them really. Shifters, well, the only way to scratch a shifter in the slightest is to not look after it properly or to crash it... rant over.... it just seems that so many times you hear something is in 'really good condition', then see the photo and think 'really good condition'??? more like 'completely unloved, not looked after and scratched' :)

So, to be far easier, have you got photos and full spec of the bike? and the Price that is being asked?

So you are stripping and cleaning it then trying to decide what to offer him for it? Is that the idea?
  • Yeh that's the idea it's just been neglected so plus there's a lot of dirt and grime

OK, not the polished alloy Record Titanium but regular 10 speed and chainset isn't EPS, it's pre-Ultratoque. I'm thinking that the age is nearer 2005, particularly as Isaac went bust and lots of frames were sold-off very cheap. The good thing is that Record 10 is very solid and reliable and you can easily get parts / spares but they're not yet collectable so as long as you don't go paying a premium, you can rely on many years of good use. BTW, if the lever blades are scratched, the price of spares is horrendous!

I'm guessing it's 2005 too by the chainset, the logo on the crank arm was different to that on the 2006 Record which I'm sure is what I have sat here.

The rear mech is marked, the levers are marked in at least one place (photos aren't that good), can't tell about the brakes. If it all functions well then great, but there's not much value in it really as none of it looks like it's been looked after, well, it hasn't or you wouldn't be cleaning it all up like you are. None of it is in good enough condition to ever hold any real value as being the top stuff for it's age, but if it works for what you want it to and is dead cheap then cool.
