Buying an FM029 from Dengfu

I was looking at a dengfu fm029 frameset and had a few questions about purchasing:

Should I choose BB30 or standard threaded? I have heard some bad things about BB30 although I managed to screw the threads on an old threaded shell (is this common?) I guess it will limit what chainset I can use if I go with threaded?

Also I might pay via paypal, although this adds on %4.5, another option is Western Union but I have never used this....any good?

Thanks!

if you go through hongfu instead you can bank transfer, rather than get stung on paypal fees.

I'd go BSA every time. Sure BB30 is lighter but wider BBs/chainsets are the future IMO, so I can see BB30 sliding out of usage. Of the big players, only Sram and FSA make BB30 chainsets, so you're limited there. Sram are fine but FSA doesn't have a particularly good rep. Most new carbon frames run wide BB shells to maximise stiffness there.

I recently bought an FM029 from Dengfu. It was a fairly painless process. I paid with paypal. I also paid no VAT or import duty. At the time they only had BB30 available but did offer to send an adaptor. In the end I didnt bother with the adaptor and fitted BB30-Megaexo cups. I know what some people say about BB30 but so far its ok. I loctited the cups into place and used a home made press. You can see my finished bike in Your Road Bikes.

I also bought one from Dengfu using paypal. I went with BB30 and haven't had any problems. All in it came to £320 as no import duty was paid. delivery was just under 3 weeks with the majority of time actually in the sorting office.
Ride quality is good and I've had zero issues with mine. I raced mine weekly throughout the summer and had no problems. With the ISP version I find it a bit vertically stiff which doesn't help much for longer rides so if I were to buy again I'd go for non ISP version.
  • Thanks for the help,

I've heard a few people say about the ISP being a little hard to take on long rides. I was trying to keep the cost down and was told that the ISP and non- ISP are the same price. Should I just buy a carbon seat post? Any recommendations for one would be great!

    Thanks
