I've been away from modern mtbs for some years, so wondering if a 2011 Rockhopper a decent base for upgrading. I've been offered one of these

that has been treated to Reba RLs, SLX g'set, Fulcrum Red Power XL hoops and a few other ancillaries. NONE of the bike has done more than a few miles and it looks totally as new.
I shan't do anything more exciting than tow paths and riverside tracks!
Price is about a ton less than original RRP for the standard bike. Worth a go?
Thanks!

That link seems not to work - I'll try and find another. It's an SL version I think.
THIS I think (but in red/white!):

It has a decent M4 frame and good components from your description. If it is really in mint condition and fits you it would be a very good buy, just try to get the price down a bit as it is about three years old now as the 2014 bikes are out now. Check completed listings on EBay for a guide on prices.0

Thanks Kajjal. Mint, yes. I can't get it for any less - it's at what my mate paid for it and otherwise he'll split/use some parts on other stuff. I shall I think try a short pedal on it....
My other current "option" is a carbon XTC on a well known auction site (but local) at 700 notes BIN. More money, but maybe a better buy?d.j.

Depends on full spec really and prices. And of course fit ;-). But both seem good value on the face of it.0
