Wheels + Conti GP 4 Season
Fitted some Conti GP 4 season tyres for winter commutes, the gator skins where due replacing, and they where a real b*gger to fit to the Fulcrum Racing 5 Evos...so were the Gatorskins, so thinking it's rim issue rather than the tyres? Can't see me being able to easily (if at all) fix a puncture.
Anybody any suggestions for a rim/GP 4 season combo that they run that is easier to switch?
My best bike has Schwalbe Ultremo and Mavic Ksyrium Elites which are piece of p*ss in comparison.

I had the same problem this weekend trying to fit some 4 seasons to Easton 16mm rims. Had to use levers in the end, thankfully without pinching the tube. I hope the puncture protection works as I don't fancy trying to fix them at the roadside, especially as they're winter wheels.Regards

Just to throw a spanner in there, I run GP4 seasons on Fulcrum 3's and Halo Aerorage and find that they slide on and off with out any major issues.0

like I've found with most tires once they've been on and off a few times they do loosen up ..... getting PRO 3's on a set of Zipps is a full workout in itself :oops:0

Gave up on my Conti GP4S on Fulcrum R5's - hard enough in a warm, dry garage and didn't want to take the risk of having to do it in cold, wet, dark
They punctured too easily for me - I even got a flat on the rollers, where presumably a thorn I'd picked up worked itself through the casing !
Besides, they had terrible grip in the wet and felt wooden in the dry.

I had some GP 4 Seasons on my audax wheels. The rims were Ambrosio Evolution. The tyres were a doddle to get on and off. In fact, I had both tyres blow off the rims but don't know whether it was the tyres or defective tubes. I put it down to the tubes because it never happened again after I changed them.I have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks0

I'v had 25mm Conti 4 seasons on Shimano RS10's and more recently R501's without any problems. I found the puncture protection to be pretty effective, so I've not had to take them off very often though.0

Running GP4Seasons on Archetype rims. No problem installing and they are excellent tyres IMO.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

gp4 s-terrible tyres, punctured easily and felt like wood.

Not alone with this problem then! Thanks for the other suggestions there's a bit of life in the F5s yet but I'll have a look for any bargains of the other suggestions. Never had a problem with GP4000s on Shimano RS80s and those tyres are great.0

I run Gp4 seasons on fr5's. never a problem - I do use a lever to do the final bit of getting the tyre on - but they're out and it's no bother.
Grip is excellent and I've had a rear tyre do nearly 3k miles - front done the same but has more life left in it.0 -
I run Gp4 Seasons and Fulcrum 5 Evo's on my winter bike and I've never had a problem getting the tyres on, just takes a bit of encouraging to get on, you certaily do not need levers. The GP4 Seasons are also great in all conditions, I know plenty o fpeople who run Gp4 Seasons in the winter and never had any problems.0

The last pair I bought were £17 each, at double-that now I won't be buying again - even the 28s feel a bit dead. Duranos are better valueMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Contintal is all I use except Vitoria Pave tubs and I have no issues getting them on to any rim inlcuding racing 5's. It is all down to the technique you have or may not have. Not horrible stuff not at all, actually GP4 seasons and 4000s are my favourite clinchers. Most people in my local clubs use Conti tyres we all can't be wrong or find it hard to fit. As for them feeling dead they were never alive in the first place, I would be worried if that were the case, living tyres shock horroe. Not too sure what you mean by dead monty dog, it is not a feeling I experience. How things feel though is very subjective.
Getting them off is easy with good tyre levers. Tyre lever are not needed to get the tyre on any tyre except a marathon plus on some rims or BLB's black mamba tyres, the latter are truely horrid in every way.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0
