hi guys
been cycling for a few years now and have done 2k+ miles this year, including a couple of sportives. at the end of the year i can do a cycle to work scheme, but only allows me £1000. so i have a few options:
1) break the bank, use the £1000, sell my allez elite and plus £900 to get a di2 (either sale or ribble)
2) keep my allez as a commuter/hack and spend the £1000 and get a full carbon on ultegra/105 for my weekends/sportives
3) keep the allez and upgrade wheels+groupset for another year and then look to get a di2
just wondering if any others had a similar dilemma and what they did, or any advice really? my biggest fear is doing option 1 and spending over £100 a month on something which is no better for a novice rider than a bike at half the price?
any advice is appreciated.

Think on this way,if you fall with Di2 and you need to replace rear or front or shifter, expenses will be high or at least more than 105 or Ultegra.
If you fall with Ultegra/105,you can put some old Ultegra that will cost you about 20-30€.(same for shifters and other)
And what you really get with Di2 is nothing realy important for racing.
I would upgrade the groupe on Ultegra or maybe finding something used with Ultegra,Canyon maybe?0 -
The groupset should be a fair way down the priority list for a new bike. Find a frame that works for you and fits, then think about wheels and then worry about the groupset. Actually, it might come second as wheels are easier to change, but even then the frame is key.0

I agree. I love my Di2 set up but only because it is on a good frame.
Think of it as a finishing touch, not a starting point.Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S
