Does EVO mean anything?

Focus, Cannondale, Spesh - all have EVO models.

Is this just marketing or does it actually tell me anything about the bike?

    Evolution?

If so, evolution means 'gradual change' doesn't sound like a good feature :D

Under £1400 for a well-regarded Focus with Ultegra at my LBS doesn't sound too bad to me.

Why EVO in capitals? [I'm sure I'm over-analysing here]

Spesh use the Evo name for short stem, wide bars, longer travel fork than frame, for aggressive bikes. For example the stumpy Evo is slightly burlier (wheels, forks, tyres, dropper post) than a standard stumpy.

Maybe theyve just taken the idea from the Mitsubishi Lancer (EVO to me gives the thought of special edition or upgraded)

    So it's just BS then.

Maybe it's something to do with these?

    I think you are. :)
  • The Focus Cayo gained 'Evo' from 2012 onwards when the frame was changed. i.e. it's used just to distinguish from pre 2012 Cayo models.
