Rolls San Marco saddle shedding layers

I've just refitted a san marco saddle that's been sitting unused for a while onto my fixed wheel bike for winter and after a couple of 2 hour rides this weekend I've noticed a thin layer of leather is being rubbed off around the sides of the nose. I'm guessing it's because I've not maintained it properly but is there anything I can do now to prevent any more damage or is it too late to save it?

  • Not a lot...
I treat it like I treat my Brookes saddles, so Proofide (or vaseline if you are cheap) avery now and again

Thanks, I'll get some proofide on order and hopefully prolong the life a little

Or you can use any color-less leather cream for shoes, probably cheaper
