V light alu required

My Kona Kula super light racing bike snapped after 15 yrs of perfection. I foolishly bought a carbon cannondale taurine which is comparatively like a tank. I'm 10.5 stone so can get away with something very light, I want to be able to commute on it as well so will be racked (hence alu not carbon). Hoping for about the 20lb mark. Wouldn't mind keeping below £1300ish. Any ideas?

New, with gears and suspension? You'll be lucky!
The 'scandium' Konas all broke for a reason, and they weren't that light - there are lighter carbon frames out there.0 -
Upgrade the taurine? The frame is lighter than the old Kula.0

Yep but racking for commuting could kill the carbon frame whereas alu wont mind having other bikes smashed against it0

Why would you think that?I don't do smileys.

Same reason I only use an expensive carbon fishing rod for dry fly only probably !0

Because it dissolves if it gets wet?I don't do smileys.

I assume you meant fitting a rack, not putting it in a bike rack.
Definitely agree with making the Taurine lighter, there's absolutely not reason to get an alu frame, lightweight alu frames will be far more prone to breaking if hit with pointy things in racks.0 -
Njee, no, meant locking to a bike rack, next to old steel bikes which fall onto nice expensive bikes!0
