Please excuse the lack of knowledge coming p here, but bear with me (im usually a road bike kind of guy with limted knowledge as it is).
My brother has a fuji nevada 3.0 - it looks fairly old to my eyes. I was thinking about restoring it to full working order, and have so far concluded it needs the following:
Brake cables, gear cables, tyres, inners, handlebar grips, rear cassette, chain, probably new disk brake pads, not sure about the front rings.thats pretty muh everything bar a new frame isnt it!
I know its probably not much more to buy a new bike but im curious. Also the LBS has a habit of being a bit pricey, so if ts not too much to ask, what ballpark figure would i be looking at here? first guess is about £140 for parts?
Cheers

Your parts description is a bit too vague to get any real prices, but I'd be very surprised if you couldn't get everything you mentioned above (not the chainrings) for under £100.
Is this it?

Cable inners, Wilkinsons supermarket, may be galvanised mild steel but thos on my commuter are still working after 4 years of year round use and look fine, they also do brake outers.
Gear outers, Jagwire are very cost effective, few quid off fleabay with decent end caps.
grips - KCNC off ebay for less than £7.
Chain - KMC off ebay, likewise cassette.
All told I reckon you could do it for circa £50.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
thanks for the positive replies. I have had a quick look and come to about the same estimates, i think previously i had performance parts on par with the road bike gear as a basis for the original cost. Could be a go-er now then!0
