Hi,

I currently have Shimano Tiagra 10 spd group set and the other day after a few drinks went on eBay. So, now I have purchased Shimano Ultegra front and rear derailleurs, will they work well with my Tiagra shifters or will I have to go for the ultegras or at least the 105 shifters?

Cheers

they will work fine, assuming they are 10sp like the shifters..

Nah - you'll need to get matching Ultegra shifters (that's what you need to tell the purse strings anyway! ;) )

They will work fine, whether they are 10sp, 9sp or even 8sp

(without fiddling with JTek Shiftmates or whatever)...
    - Shimano 10sp Shifters will need a Shimano/SRAM 10sp cassette, and that will need a 10sp chain
    - but 8sp/9sp/10sp Shimano derailleurs work equally fine on any 8sp or 9sp or 10sp Shimano system, as all have the same pull-ratio, you do not need to match mechs with shifters

But if you were thinking you were 'upgrading' your bike by buying better mechs, then you'll be disappointed
    - you won't be able to tell the difference of the higher-spec mechs with the same Tiagra shifters
