Front Derailleur

I have just replace the crankset on my 26" wheel hybrid - changed a 32 / 44 to a 22 / 32 / 44, my levers are compatible with triple front chain wheel but my Front Derailleur will not swing the full range required.

Question is what do I need to look for in finding a Front Derailleur to work with my new crankset?

Will any MTB Derailleur work with this?

are you sure? you have undo the stops as required.

what crank and BB and what mech (part numbers make model etc etc).

ok so what is not actually happening as i can see nothing wrong with the cranks and BB
and the front mech should be ok.

Just been having another go... It can move from smallest to middle ring but is at it's max before it reaches the largest ring.

Having a closer look, when I set it low enough on the frame so that the chain has clearance to the bottom of the cage, the cage can't clear the largest chainring...?

so first set it up on the big ring. moving by hand.

then attach the cable and tension ...........

OK... I was starting on the smallest ring and taking up the slack in the cable.

I'll have another go tomorrow night starting on the largest ring.

What about the cage hitting the chainring / chain hitting the bottom of the cage? May I need a derailleur with a longer drop? Does that question even make sense...

How do you change gears on your hypothetical new 10 speed cassette without a shifter?

But just to save you additional brain damage, you are aware that 10 speed stuff is not compatible with 7/8/9 speed stuff?

If this is the quality of your suggestions I think I'd prefer cooldad's sarcasm.

Thanks for all the 'suggestions' (sarcasm).

Nicklouse, thanks for your quick responses, I got it set up - think I've just been lucky in the past and the triple with a 22 teeth difference makes it a bit more tricky to setup.

I think the key was aligning to the smaller chain-ring with the cable disconnected, then taking the slack out of the cable. I was setting the bottom chain ring with the cable connected and running out of adjustment at the top end.
