Hey everyone

I've just noticed a chip on the top tube of my frame and was wandering what is the best way to repair it, it only looks like its the gel coat and not anything structural that has been damaged.

Hopefully the picture will show the damage

Thanks for any advice
Andy

Can't see a picture but you could try car clear touch up lacquer that may do it, I used it on mine.

  • Yeah automotive clear coat touch up lacquer will be fine, look for the little bottle with a brush, get it as flush as possible with the original surface then smooth it down with t-cut ;)

Just an idea you could touch up the white writing were it's chipped with white nail polish then put clear coat nail polish to finish off, might make for a neater job.

He can buy his own.
  • Thanks for the advice I'll see if I can borrow some nail varnish or find some clear lacquer.

Any bike that has been ridden any miles at all will have a chip in it somewhere. This post appears to be another carbon fiber paranoia issue. If a chip was all it took to trash a CF bike there would be huge piles of them everywhere.
Have a little faith OP. Or don't buy things you don't have faith in.
  • I'm failing to see where I said I had issues with the chip all I wanted to do was find out the best method of repairing it so that it visually looks better and stops any more coming off.
