What parts should I get for my P1?

:?: This Is my 2010 Specialized P1 AM. I am a complete novice when it comes to what parts to use to rebuild it.

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/spe ... ain-2010-j ump-bike-ec016457

I neglected the bike somewhat so most parts need replacing.
A few of the parts i have in mind already are:

Fork: Rockshox XC30 TK Coild 100mm
Front Derailleur: Shimano Alivio M412
Chainset: Shimano FC-M171 Triple Chainset
Cassette: Shimano HG51 Cassette 8-Speed
Chain: KMC X8-99 8 Speed Chain

Will these parts fit correctly and also are they good? They seem to match up to the original spec of the bike and are well reviewed.

Also, I still am not sure what rear derailleur, Gear cables, brake pads (and brake disc, needed because front one is slightly bent) to get. The concept of the differences between the different types of these just entirely escapes me and I wouldn't know where to begin!

Thank you very much to anyone who can point me in the right direction with all this stuff. I know there's a lot of help that I need but any information you can offer I will be very grateful for!

Thanks,

Broomiester

Copied and pasted from another forum which shortened the link.....clearly we are second best!

    But in answer.
Rear mech compatible with the shifters, which might be Sram.
Pads compatible with the brakes, which might be BB7s
    Cables - any, preferably stainless.
Rotors - any 6 bolt, probably. 160mm most likely.

    Assuming everything is standard.

  • Apologies, I posted around a lot, I aimed for specialized specific forums and smaller ones first because I assumed that with larger forums, a post such as mine, with so much text and questions would get lost in such a large forum. But I do visit the site fairly regularly :).

Anyway, grovelling over, this is the bike: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/spe ... e-ec016457

and @cooldad, thanks for getting back to me, this should help with my build :P

To recap, would http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/sram ... tAodEgcA9g this be a good rear derailleur? It's long cage, does that mean I need to get a particular chain? Front D?

    cheers

If you have Sram shifters - yes.
Chain needs to be long enough but any 8 speed will do. KMC are my chain of choice.

That's the exact bike the son had, great trail hardtail strictly it's a P1 All Mountain as the P1 is a jump bike.

    Discs are 160mm as standard.
